On the afternoon of Sunday, July 27th, participants of the AMMD Pine Grove Project—a Rosenwald School historic preservation initiative in Cumberland County, VA—took part in an oral history workshop led by ICJS’s Getting Word African American history department. Led by Jenna Owens (Oral Historian) and Auriana Woods (Director), the two-hour session introduced roughly twenty community stakeholders to doing oral history towards preserving community memories, and was generously supported by the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund.
